A Link to the Past came out in April 1992, and was
immediately a smash hit. Cancelling out the bad reception of
Adventure of Link, it sent Zelda back into the big names.
It was simply huge, spanning two worlds with 11 dungeons
full of interactive characters, who would help and hinder
Link on his quest. The graphics were amazing for the time,
and the gameplay was immersive; with 24 heart pieces to find
and numerous other hidden secrets, there was always more to
find. Many gamers still regard this as the greatest Zelda
game of them all, and even the best game ever.
Link to the Past was rereleased for the GBA in December 2002, alongside
Four Swords. It was retranslated and included a new dungeon, as
well as a new minigame and new skills.
