Demon's Portal

Chapter 1

Link woke to a strange feeling in him and a boy, about 15, in his face. He had shortish silver hair, a long-red tunic, very nimble fingers with oddly sharp nails, and a sword strapped to his side.

The boy’s name was Bobby, and he was half-demon. “What do you want Bobby?” Link asked tiredly. “Hey, I think I deserve a little thank-you.” replied Bobby. “Why?” Link asked slowly.

“Cause I found a portal to, you’re going to love me for this, Hyrule.” Bobby answered. “HYRULE!” Link exclaimed. “Yeah, it goes to a few days after you died.” Bobby said, “Hey! Where’d you go?”

Bobby spotted him shortly heading in the direction of the portal. “God, Link.” Bobby said, “Why’d you go without me?” But, Link wasn’t listening. He was experimentally putting his hand through the portal and looking at it afterward. “Let’s go.” He said. “Yeah.” Bobby agreed. And they jumped through.

“Jenna!” her mother exclaimed, “Why do you always have to try to beat your brother to the dinner table?” “I don’t know what you’re talking about mum.” Jenna evasively replied. “Yes you do Jenna. Why do you always have to try to get yourself out of trouble? It NEVER works.” Her mother said. “Yeah, I do, sometimes.” Jenna said beaten.

“Ha ha. Jenna got in trouble.” said her younger brother James. “Shut up you little twerp.” Jenna said. “Hey you two stop acting like children. Jenna, you’re acting like an eleven-year old instead of a sixteen-year old. And James, you’re acting like an eight-year old instead of a fourteen-year old.” Their mother said. “Okay mum.” They said defeated.

“Finish your dinner and then go do your homework.” Their mother said.

A split-second later, they were on the ground groaning. “Ouch, I forgot how heavy my body was.” Link said wincing. “Yeah, me too.” Bobby agreed. “What the Hell are those!” Link exclaimed. “What are you talking about?” Bobby said rubbing his head. Then he felt them. Two small pointy dog ears on the top of his head. “Ahhhhhhhhhhh!” he yelled, “get ‘em off!” “Umm, Bobby. I don’t think we can.” Link replied, “They look pretty fixed in there.” “What! Noooo!” Bobby screamed. They continued on like this for awhile until Bobby calmed down.

Then, bobby remembered that he was half-demon and that he was supposed to have the really sharp claws, the ears, and the really sharp teeth. He also remembered a bunch of spells and how to use his sword. He practiced the spells while Link retrained himself to use his regular sword. Finally they looked around. “Where are we?” Bobby asked. “Hyrule Field, I think.” Replied Link, “Duck!” They ducked just as five huge rocks flew over them. “What are they?” Bobby asked. “Giant octorks.” Link said, “Just kill ‘em.” So they did. Bobby slashed his hand through the air at a octorks and 3 crescents of energy shot out and sliced one in three places killing it instantly. Link was slicing them too except with his sword.

Just when he was about to finish one off, he heard something in his head that said, “Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!” It kept repeating itself until he saw a mental picture of himself in a past life pointing his sword at a demon with his left side to it yelling that strange sentence, “Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!” He figured that he would try it even though he didn’t know what would happen, let alone if it would work.

“Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!” He yelled doing exactly what the picture had done. Just as he said it a blinding white beam of pure energy shot out of the tip of his sword and into the octork. Link felt an overwhelming amount of energy shoot through the sword into him. When the light subsided and the spell wore out, the octorks body fell to the ground dead. “Wow, what was that?” Bobby asked. “It’s called the ‘Iron Reaver Soul Stealer’. It turns the soul of anything it’s aimed at into energy and the user absorbs it. It’s generally used on demons, but it works really well against monsters and people.” Link replied. “Cool, but don’t turn it against me.” Bobby said. “I won’t. Let’s go to the market, I’m starving.” Link said. So they walked to Hyrule market.

When they got there, Link immediately knew something was wrong. There was no music, and all the people had their faces covered. He went up to a woman and asked what was going on and why everyone had their faces covered. After he asked, a Redeads face appeared. “Bobby, kill them all!” He shouted, thrusting his sword through the old woman.

After they did their homework, Jenna and James started watching T.V. until their father got home. They were watching a show called, ‘America’s Most Wanted’ when he did. Every time their father got home was a special occasion because that meant that he didn’t get hurt doing his job. He worked as a spy for the government and that meant that he could get killed or seriously injured. Because he worked for the government, their father was the only one that worked because he got a lot of money every time he successfully completed a mission.

After they had their ‘dad’s home’ snack, they were sent to bed. James fell asleep quickly, but Jenna had to many things going on in her mind. She knew that she was destined to do something important somewhere. No one else believed her. When she fell asleep, she dreamt that she would be next to a valiant knight, and that she would help him in his quest. Little did she know that the quest she dreamt about becoming part of, would be soon.

The first few Redeads fell quickly. But, every time they killed one, the rest seemed to get stronger. Finally, when there were just three left, Link got frustrated and told Bobby to go kill the one farthest away so that Link could try the soul stealer. “Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!” he yelled. Again, the bright light speared through his enemy but, Link didn’t feel the energy come into him and got bored. ‘I wonder’ he thought and moved his sword to the right, the Redead that he speared moved to the right too. Link moved his sword up; the Redead went into the air. When he got bored of playing that little game, he started to wonder why its energy didn’t come. ‘Maybe it doesn’t have a soul’ Link thought, ‘maybe it will just spear it and I can throw It.’ so he did and it flew into a wall.

“Bobby, run back to the field!” Link yelled. When they got to the field Link remembered another spell, one that could destroy the bridge so the Redead couldn’t go to the field. “Gan Rom!” He shouted, and six pillars of rock shot out of the moat and destroyed the bridge, leaving the Redead trapped in the market. “If the market is like this, we need to go to Kokiri Forest now!” Link said, “EPONA!” Bobby could make out a horse’s figure galloping towards them. When it got close enough he saw that it was a chestnut-colored horse with a black nose and a white mane and tail.

“Bobby,” Link said, “I’d like you to meet Epona, my horse.” “Hi, Epona.” Bobby said. “Get on Bobby.” Link said. Once Bobby got on, Link kicked Epona’s sides and they galloped away to Kokiri Forest.

They arrived at Kokiri Forest about a half-hour after they left. When they got to the tunnel, Epona refused to go any further, so Link and Bobby got off and headed into the tunnel. A few moments later, they found the bridge that led to the Kokiri Meadow was damaged. They managed to cross it easily but what they saw when they got to the Meadow was imprinted into Link’s mind forever.

Jenna awoke to the sound of James’ feet running around the hall. When Jenna went into the hall to see what was going on, James tripped and fell flat on his face. “God James,” Jenna said laughing. “Will you at least TRY to stay on your feet?” “Shut up, Jenna,” James replied angrily. “I tripped on the bad board.”

“Okay, I don’t see a bad board. Only a stupid brother flat on his face being an idiot.” She said. “Oh, ha ha. Good one.” He said sarcastically, “now help me up.” “I don’t think I will. You need the exercise.” Jenna said. “When I get up, you’re dead.” James said jokingly. “Kid’s,” their mother said. “Breakfast is ready.” “Coming mum.” They said in unison.

When they got downstairs, the sweet smell of pancakes wafted over to them. That was a bad sign. Their mother only made pancakes if something was troubling her. When they went to sit down, they noticed a letter on the table. “Jenna, James. Your father has been sent to spy on the Japanese, and he won’t be back for three months. He says that he loves you and hopes you’ll be alright. “What!” “Three months!” they said helplessly. “That’s when summer’s over!” For the rest of the day, they didn’t really have any fun. The news of their father worried them. A lot could happen in three months, and their father had a bunch of enemies.

What they saw before them was like a sword through the ribs for Link. The Kokiri’s bodies were scattered everywhere, like dolls. All of them were dead. But what really broke Links heart was a girl with bright green hair. Saria, his best friend, lying broken but, somehow, alive. “Link, is that you?” she asked in a feeble voice. “Yeah, it’s me. What did this?” he asked her. “I thought you were dead.” She said. “I was. What did this to you?” he replied. “It... Was…a….” and with that, she died. “We have to get them back after we destroy what did this.” He said his voice barely audible.

“I know what did this,” Bobby said, “It was a high level demon.” Whiz, thump. An arrow lodged itself into a tree trunk right beside them. “What the hell,” Link said, “We’re being fired on! Take cover!” They each sheltered in one of the tree houses, Link in his old house, and Bobby in the one next door. “What do we do?” Bobby asked. “Easy, shoot back. Use the bow in the chest at the back of the room.” Link replied.

Bobby got the bow and looked out the window to see what was shooting at them. “Link, it is a demon. Shoot bomb and poison arrows at it. I’ll move to the house across the path and distract it.” Bobby said and ran across the path shooting arrows at the demon. ‘I’ll take that damn demon down easily’ Link thought to himself and started tying the bombs onto some of his arrows and dipping the others in poison. After he got all the arrows ready, he nocked the first bomb arrow, lit it, and let it fly into the flesh of the demon. After that, he shot a poison arrow right next to the bomb arrow. Just as he shot it, the bomb arrow lodged into the demon exploded, and the demon roared with pain.

That continued for a few minutes until the demon couldn’t even hold its bow up. When Link saw how weak it had gotten, he jumped out of the tree house and ran towards the demon, sword at the ready. When he got to it he started slashing at it in blind fury until it kicked him so hard that he flew into a tree, breaking it in half. But, showing his incredible stamina, he jumped back on his feet. This time, before he ran at it, he yelled ‘Demon’s bane’ and his sword glowed bright red. He ran at it, jumped, did a summersault, and landed on it. Then, he started hacking at its head and when he jumped off the demon he yelled, “Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!” as loud as he could. But, instead of the blinding white energy, a deep red came out of the tip of his sword, and speared the demon through the head. Link felt its energy flow into him and what was left of the demon, and there wasn’t much, dissipated. Bobby stood in the middle of the path watching what happened, with an arrow through his shoulder.

When it was over, he said nothing. He just opened a portal to the Demon World, and started rounding up the Kokiri. When they got back, Link was ready to leave after a quick ‘good-bye’ and an ‘I’ll be back’ and they were off, riding towards Hyrule Field. When they got to the middle of the field, they rode to a far off farm called ‘Lon Lon Ranch.’ It was a small little farm with tall walls that Link boasted he jumped Epona over. There was a large enclosure for the horses, a small house which Link said the owners Malon, and Talon lived, and a small barn for the cows.

Since time passes a lot more quickly on Earth than in Hyrule, two months had passed and Jenna and James were anxiously waiting for the return of their father. The days passed seemingly endlessly. Until one day. Jenna woke up when she usually did which was 7:30 sharp. She ate her breakfast of two pop tarts, a bowl of cereal, and some orange juice. When she was done, she started watching T.V. she was watching Scream 3 when she heard it, a scratching on the window coming from the kitchen. She looked out the window, and went back to finish the movie.

Then the window shattered, and a small little man with a flick-knife jumped through and started breaking everything he could. Jenna saw him and found a metal pipe to hit him with. When she went back to the kitchen, he was gone. She turned around to get the phone and call the police when he hit her. She turned around and he jumped on her and started cutting her up with his flick-knife. Just when she kicked him off of her and got the pipe to hit him, a portal opened and she was teleported.

When they got to the ranch, Malon was in the middle of the enclosure singing her usual song. Link got off Epona, walked up to her, and started telling her what happened while Bobby walked around aimlessly. When he went up to link to ask him where they would go next, the ground underfoot started shaking and they were thrown to the ground. Link told Malon to go inside while he and Bobby dealt with whatever was causing it. When she was safely inside, he went back to Bobby and helped him to his feet.

“Link, a portal’s opening!” Bobby shouted over the rumbling of the ground. “No, really? It is?” Link replied sarcastically. “I wonder what it is.” He said. “I don’t know, but it’s almost here.” Bobby said taking up a fighting stance. A swirling black hole appeared a few feet away from where they were standing and Link got his sword and shield, ready to jump and attack, while Bobby started a spell under his breath. Out of the hole, a girl appeared. Link ran over to her, sword still at the ready in case she was a demon, and got a better look at her. Bobby came up beside Link and looked through the demon planes to see if she was a demon. When he gave Link the obvious ‘she’s not a demon’ look, Link misunderstood it and went down to try to finish her before she got up, but Bobby blocked it with his own sword and said “she’s not a demon, don’t kill her.”

“Well, you could have told me.” Link snapped back. “I gave you the ‘she’s not a demon, leave her alone’ look and you didn’t get it.” Bobby said defensively, “Heal her.” “Okay, I’ll heal her.” Link said, and started an al’ repth, which is ol’ repth except with a change. While he was healing her, he took the time to make sure the skin wouldn’t scar, so she would look how she did before she got attacked. While he was healing her, Link go a good look at her. She had shoulder length, golden colored hair, slim arms, long legs, and she was thin. Of course, when he was in the middle of healing her, Bobby started saying how that she didn’t go to the Demon World, and that the Demon’s Portal just spit her out wherever it felt like it and that she never died.

Malon came over knowing it was safe and started talking to Bobby about her. “She looks young, about Link’s age.” Malon said. “That’s because she is Link’s age.” Bobby told her. “Hey look, she’s waking up!” Malon exclaimed.

When she woke up, Jenna knew something was wrong. Someone was pushing on her back, and she was really sore, like the knife hadn’t done anything except make her really sore. She opened her eyes slowly to a squint and saw a girl a little older than her with red hair, and a boy with silver hair and a long red tunic.

Other than feeling sore, she felt something cool and hot at the same time going all through her body. It felt really good too. But, when she got flipped over and the hands were on her chest, she saw a young man about her age concentrating. ‘He looks kind of handsome’ she thought to herself. She decided to scare him so she did.

Just concentrate, focus, no sound just energy flowing freely, silence, quiet, peace, focus, focus, concentrate, concentrate. Link just kept telling himself that, over and over. Until, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?” the strange girl asked. “Uh…” He said dumbly. All the concentration was gone, and he was just focusing on this loud, yet strangely pretty, girl. “I SAID, what are you doing?” She said again. “Uh…I was healing you. You were really hurt.” He replied. “Where am I anyway?” she asked. “This is Hyrule.” He answered. ‘Wow, she’s really loud.’ He thought to himself. She got up and stretched. Wincing she said, “So this is Hyrue?” “You got it wrong.” He said. “It’s Hyrule, more specifically, the ‘Lon Lon Ranch.’

“Huh, ‘Lon Lon Ranch.’ I like the sound of that, ‘Lon Lon Ranch.’ She said. Watching this from a distance Malon was talking to Bobby about how the girl purposefully got the name of the kingdom wrong. Bobby wasn’t really listening; he was focusing on the girl thinking, ‘wow, she’s really pretty. Link, you are really lucky to have her love you.’ “Hey, Bobby, are you even listening to me?” Malon asked angrily. “Huh? Oh right yeah, sure.” He replied. “So, Link. Two questions, number one, are we taking the girl…” “My name’s Jenna.” Jenna said, glaring at him. “Okay. Are we taking JENNA with us? And number two. Where do we head next?” “Um… yeah, we’re taking her. And after we get Jenna a weapon and teach her some magic we’ll go to kakariko village to see if anything changed there.
